Although it wasn’t very surprising that Facebook tried to stop the New York Post’s story about the damning contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop from circulating last week, it turns out that Joe Biden has a very well-placed connection at the social media giant who could well be operating on his behalf.
The Global Policy Manager for Content Regulation at Facebook, Anna Makanju, was a special policy adviser on Eurasia and Europe, including Ukraine, to the former Vice President. She currently serves as a legal expert in charge of ensuring election integrity on the platform and leads the department that decides which policies to adhere to while censoring election “misinformation.”
It’s hard to imagine how she could possibly be impartial in that role, and it could well be at least part of the reason that Facebook tried so hard to stop the New York Post story from getting out. Facebook openly admitted that it blocked the distribution of the explosive report, which discusses evidence that Joe Biden’s son Hunter was part of a corruption scandal.
A 2015 email retrieved from the laptop that was featured in the article shows that an adviser to the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma thanked Hunter Biden for giving him a chance to meet the former vice president. Joe Biden has stated in the past that he has “never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings” – something that has been exposed time and time again as an outright lie.
The meeting reportedly took place less than a year before Joe Biden pressured Ukrainian government officials into firing a prosecutor who had been investigating Burisma by threatening to withhold a U.S. loan guarantee to the tune of $1 billion. Hunter was paid $50,000 a month to be on Burisma’s board despite having no relevant qualifications.
The email read: “Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure,” the email reads.
The New York Post also reported that the laptop contained a 12-minute “raunchy” video of Hunter Biden smoking crack cocaine while participating a sex act with an unidentified woman and many other explicit images.
Facebook Policy Communications Manager Andy Stone said: “While I will intentionally not link to the New York Post, I want be clear that this story is eligible to be fact checked by Facebook’s third-party fact checking partners. In the meantime, we are reducing its distribution on our platform.”
Stone also has a history of working for the left, serving as a Democrat staffer for many years as well as working for John Kerry’s presidential campaign and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
When Facebook fact-checks a story, its viewership drops by as much as 95 percent. The move could have prevented millions of potential voters from reading this very important story that shows how Biden could well be a national security risk.
The Senior Editor of The Federalist, Mollie Hemingway, tweeted: “Facebook is openly admitting its interference in a U.S. presidential election by blatantly censoring media outlets that print negative facts about their preferred presidential candidate, Joe Biden. Terrifying.”
Makanju has never been shy about defending Biden. In a 2019 Washington Post article, she defended her former boss when he was accused of being involved in questionable dealings with Ukraine. As Biden’s policy advisor, she said that she was privy to conversations between Biden and Ukrainian officials.
It’s very clear why Makanju and all the leftists at Facebook didn’t want people to read the New York Post’s story. Thankfully, enough people were rightfully outraged by the censorship on the part of both Facebook and Twitter that it ended up making headlines anyway despite the efforts of Biden’s cronies, thrusting both social media’s shady practices and the Biden family’s corrupt dealings right into the spotlight where they should be. We can only hope that this will wake up those who were still blind to social media censorship and illustrate just how dangerous their reach is.
