Former President Donald Trump has threatened Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg with imprisonment if he is found interfering in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, as he did in 2020.
In Trump’s new coffee table book, titled “Save America“ and scheduled for release on Sept. 3, Trump recounts meetings with Zuckerberg. The Meta CEO visited the White House with his wife, Priscilla Chan, while secretly working against Trump’s reelection campaign.
Trump specifically mentioned the $420 million contribution Zuckerberg and Chan made in 2020 to fund election infrastructure, describing it as a plot against the president. “He told me there was nobody like Trump on Facebook. But at the same time, and for whatever reason, steered it against me,” Trump stated in the book.
The former president warned that if Zuckerberg engages in any illegal activities during the 2024 presidential election, he and others involved will face lifelong imprisonment.
“We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time, he will spend the rest of his life in prison – as will others who cheat in the 2024 presidential election,” Trump wrote in a caption beneath an image of him and Zuckerberg at the Oval Office.
“All I can say is that if I’m elected president, we will pursue election fraudsters at levels never seen before and they will be sent to prison for long periods of time. We already know who you are. Don’t do it, Zuckerbucks, be careful,” he added.
The book was published by Winning Team Publishing, a company co-founded by Trump Jr. and Sergio Gor, a close ally of the former president.
Trump’s threat comes after Zuckerberg admitted his actions during the 2020 presidential election.
In 2020, Facebook, along with other social media platforms, was accused by conservatives of censoring all content related to the Hunter Biden laptop story during the final weeks of the campaign. The issue, which involved the presidential son, Hunter, could have exposed the Biden crime family for corruption with Burisma and Ukraine leading up to the 2020 election.
On Aug. 26, Zuckerberg admitted these allegations in a letter to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Zuckerberg disclosed that the White House pressured Meta to suppress content on various issues, including that of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the so-called “laptop from hell” of the younger Biden.
Zuckerberg revealed that his company reduced the visibility of Hunter’s story on the platform after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) flagged it as potential Russian disinformation.
“We sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply,” he admitted. “It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation and, in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story. We’ve changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again. For instance, we no longer temporarily demote things in the U.S. while waiting for fact-checkers.” (Related: Zuckerberg admits Biden admin pressured Meta to CENSOR content.)
This censorship extended to posts that were satirical or humorous, with Biden administration officials expressing “a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree.”
Moreover, Zuckerberg discussed the financial contributions made through the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) at that time. He explained that the funds were meant to help local election jurisdictions support safe voting during the pandemic, but admitted they disproportionately benefited Democratic areas.
